EUROPE: SMALL BUT MIGHTY
The second smallest continent in the world, but certainly not the weakest. Home to forty four countries* of which twenty eight are in the European Union (...not for long, thanks to Brexit) and twelve are still monarchies. It's quite impressive how every country in Europe is so different in terms of landscapes, sunsets, architecture, languages, cuisine, people, religions, alcoholic beverages and so on. Even if they are right next to each other.
Walk through the museums and landmarks and you are reminded about the impact history, politics and religion have had on the people, whether its division or unity. Every church and cathedral I have been to is unique, from the scale of the artwork in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City, to the quaint little Orthodox Metropolitan church on top of the hill in Fira, Santorini. Walking through the palaces and castles in Europe give visitors a taste of royalty, whether it's the Buckingham Palace in London or the Royal Palaces in Brussels and Madrid. My photos below will hopefully give you a feel for what caught my attention while going through Europe over the years.
*United Nations, 2018
Countries visited: England, Wales, Scotland (yes, I will count them as separate countries, thanks), France, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Amsterdam, Hungary, Turkey, Czech Republic, Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Andorra, Latvia, Estonia, Liechtenstein, Greece
Wishlist: Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, Austria, Macedonia, Iceland
